The first China + 16 CEECs Conference on Cooperation in Innovation at the level of Ministers of Research and Innovation was held on 7th – 11th November 2016 in Nanjing (China). The ministerial conference was preceded by two important symposia on innovations, cooperation in technologies, and international technology transfer which were held in Shanghai (China) in 2014 and in Bratislava, Trenčín, Nitra and Žilina (Slovakia) in 2015.
The Conference in Nanjing was opened by the head of the Slovak delegation, Vladimír Kováčik, Director of the Office of the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, Wan Gang, Vice-president of the National Committee and the Minister of Science and Technologies (MoST) of the People’s Republic of China and Li Qiang, the Secretary of the Jiangsu Province.
The adoption of the Nanjing Declaration, in which the political support for the development of mutual cooperation in science, research and innovation was declared, was the central moment of the event. The programme of the event also included the Innovation workshop aimed at entrepreneurship, B2B match-making fair, visits to high-tech zones and the 5th Jiangsu Conference on International Technology Transfer.
The Conference was attended by 69 delegations and approximately 400 participants from governmental sector, higher education and research institutions and entrepreneurs.
